Description
Sedex is a membership organization that provides online platforms for companies to manage and improve working conditions in global supply chains. Sedex exists to help companies improve their responsible and sustainable business practices, and source responsibly.

This four-hour course is designed to provide companies with an understanding of the background of Sedex, its service features, a tutorial on the Audit Management online portal, and Auditor Academy. The course will describe the differences between two of their services, SMETA and SVA audits.

SEDEX Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) is a social audit that provides information for the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (SEDEX) database. SMETA focuses on topics such as human rights, workers’ rights, occupational health and safety, the environment, and business ethics.

The course includes such topics as the 4 Pillars, Audit Process, Roles & Responsibilities, Quality Management, and ETI (Ethical Trade Initiative) Base Code, which focuses on the conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and is an internationally recognized code of good labor practice. The course will also describe Sedex Virtual Audits (SVA), including remote audit, sales/operations management and describe methods of efficient execution at all phases, and an overview of Audit Resources: BPG (Best Practice Guidance), Measurement Criteria, and Issue Titles (April 2022 revision).
